Christian Morin Elliott, Political Scientist

Christian Morin Elliott is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto, where he held the Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship from 2020-2023. Christian is a member of the Environmental Governance Lab, associated with the University of Toronto School of the Environment. 

Christian's research investigates how states, international organizations, NGOs, and firms collaborate to govern environmental impacts at global and national scales. His dissertation research is focused on sustainable finance—or how financial markets might be made resilient to, and address the risks of, environmental crises like climate change. He was awarded the International Studies Association-Canada Best Graduate Student Paper Award in 2023 for his work on this topic.

His research is published in the Review of International Political Economy, Regulation & Governance, and International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law, and Economics, among other journals. Christian has also contributed chapters to edited volumes: Uncertainty in Global Politics (2023, Routledge) and The Oxford Handbook of Comparative Environmental Politics (2021, Oxford University Press). 

He received a Master of Science in Sustainable Development at University College London (with distinction), and a Bachelor of Arts and Science from the McGill University Interfaculty Environment Program.
